I am Engr. John Cee Onwualu, the Project Coordinator/CEO of Jefcon & Associates Ltd. For over twenty-five years, I have been involved in engineering practice in the areas of design, construction and project management of large scale and complex projects at both Government and Oil & Gas sectors in Nigeria. The values of projects administered in my practice are in the range of USA$10million to USA$300million.
• Over these years, I have gained sound knowledge and expertise in engineering as it relates to high precision GNSS data acquisition for engineering Survey, Flood Vulnerability Studies, Modeling and Design of flood control infrastructures, Civil/Structural engineering design of various complexities, procurement, construction and commissioning of projects. I have implemented and managed various EPC projects with relevant project management systems and processes at both Government and Oil & Gas sectors of the economy. I have utilised these experiences to enhance human capital development among the members of staff.
• At Project Management level, I have demonstrated a high level of managerial style in project implementation on various engineering projects. Some of the main achievements demonstrated in my work practices include 100% delivery of an EPCC project for Total E&P Nigeria Ltd. And part of the roles played included management of human and capital resources, budget preparation and estimation, mitigation on contractors’ claims. I have good experience in handling multiple projects simultaneously, with over ten (10) million man-hour lost time injury (LTI) free to my credit.
• At Design level as an Engineering Consultant, I have provided engineering solutions to Government, Corporate organizations, Communities, and Individuals in areas relating to structural failures, flood water issues as well as other infrastructural development problems. These included basic and detailed engineering design and supervision of roads, bridges, buildings and floodwater management systems, and control measures. Currently, I am the Project Consultant for the Study and Design of floodwater management system and control measures for Asaba, Warri/Effurun and Its Environs in Delta State.
• At the Organisational level, I have brought changes that led to an improvement of existing work procedures and practices, which resulted to the high performance recorded in project Costing, Quality Assurance, Control Management, Work Safety procedures and processes as exhibited in the EPCC project for Total E&P Nigeria Limited and my works with Delta State Government.
• As a community worker, I have actively participated in the design and construction of a community library, roads, and drainage work, as my fair share of contribution to my community. I have held various leadership positions in my community associations at different times.
• I am a professional engineer, a good team player, and highly committed to building a strong team in any project that I am involved in. I have a passion for mentoring younger engineering personnel to maintain high quality and safety standards in their projects. I possess high analytical, organisational and communication skills and proficient in the use of modern engineering tools.
