For my masters dissertation my research included the History of Sexuality (particularly homosexual), spanning from Ancient Greece to Victorian England. My study included the convergence in time in the late 19th Century between the technological advances in photography; the prominence of male prostitution which led to the criminalisation of 'acts of gross indecency'; the rise of sexual disempowerment in women; and the role of pederasty in early representation of homosexuality in visual culture.
