About me

hello- My name's Ëpha Roe and I'm a freelancer from Brighton & Hove. I've studied Photography and its history for just over six years and have been a practicing freelancer for just over two, working on sporadic PR campaigns with local artists alongside my masters degree. As a photographer I'm mostly adept and proficient at analogue, medium format photography, and I generally shoot black & white. That said I have also been involved with press events and music campaigns that have involved digital, colour images. As a videographer I am still carving out my niche, but I've worked on several projects by artist 'Jinnwoo', both editing and directing his music videos.

Freelance Photographer, Music Video Director and Editor

Sep 2015
  • I am a freelance photographer and music video director/editor with just under two years experience in the music industry.

Art History and Museum Curating with Photography

University of Sussex

Aug 2014 - Aug 2015
  • For my masters dissertation my research included the History of Sexuality (particularly homosexual), spanning from Ancient Greece to Victorian England. My study included the convergence in time in the late 19th Century between the technological advances in photography; the prominence of male prostitution which led to the criminalisation of 'acts of gross indecency'; the rise of sexual disempowerment in women; and the role of pederasty in early representation of homosexuality in visual culture.

Photography Video

De Montfort University

Aug 2010 - May 2013
  • I studied a three year programme in photography and video in which I focused in black & white, medium format photographs of landscape, architecture and portraits, and their relation to each other.
