The London Design Festival is an annual nine-day event comprising 400 independent citywide events; talks, workshops and exhibitions.
Responsible for managing the Festival’s own organized activity; a world-renowned installation programme, exhibition, and a number of core events; awards, conference, VIP events and parties.
Key Achievements ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
• Managed a sponsorship portfolio of over 1Milllion revenue on an annual basis - this is a 500% increase prior to 2012.
• Created a successful commercial business structure, with new process and systems – developed the sponsorship platform and delivery so that within my first year (2012) the Festival made a profit for the first time in its history.
• Launched successful activity through a partnership with Somerset House, with over 15 exhibitors & installations, 25,000 visitors, and over 300k in sponsorship revenue in its first year.
• Brought in and managed the first Festival Headline Partner, with considerable sponsorship revenue - they have gone on to resign a three year partnership.
• Increased advertising revenue by 350% over a two-year period.
Responsibilities include
• Managing the Festival’s commercial development strategy across multiple event formats, advertising, bespoke partnerships and a design installation programme.
• Identifying profitable commercial opportunities, growing revenue and market share, with a view of the overall business health and bottom-line.
• Develop the events and installation programme in the first half of the year by securing sponsor partners and subsequently supporting the ideas generation on installations, bringing in designer or architect, other key stakeholders and suppliers, timelines, budgets, agreements etc.
• Delivering and overseeing the Festival’s communication campaign in the second half of the year, leading up-to, during and post Festival, which includes full contract delivery on all sponsor and exhibitor partners; print collateral, web, social and digital media, PR campaign, networking opportunities, thought leadership and much more.
• Creating new business opportunities and revenue streams for the Festival all year round.
• Acting as a spokesperson for the Festival, maintaining and developing excellent contact and relationships.
• Main point of contact with sponsors and other key relationships, which include venues across the City - key being the V&A Museum and Somerset House, and their development teams, suppliers and contractors on events and installations, Festival hotel partners, PR agency and other key Festival stakeholders

Event formats ranged from one-day training, to 1-3 day conferences, summits, webinars and large-scale awards and exhibitions.
Key Achievements
• Emap Annual Awards 2009/10 – Best Sales Person award 2010 – Highest grossing individual 2009 award, over 1 Million of revenue brought in solely – Best Collaborative team award 2009.
• Launched, lead and managed the Patient Safety Congress UK – several endorsers, 5 main sponsors, and over 40 exhibitors in its first year, achieving over 400k revenue.
• Launched, lead and managed the General Practice Forum 2011 – several large-scale sponsors, multiple endorsers and a large exhibition, achieving well over 100k target for a one day event.
• Launched, lead and managed the Cancer Care Congress UK – several endorsers, 1 main sponsor and 30 exhibitors in its first year reaching over 150k target.
Responsibilities include
• Responsible for all HSJ Conferences, Awards and Exhibitions – across a 40 strong event portfolio.
• Whole sales cycle development; scoping event formation and programme, through to sponsorship sales strategy, market mapping, pipelines, meeting existing and new business clients, account management, reporting etc.
• Other responsibilities include sales forecasts, budgets, and managing and leading a small team of account managers.
• Full account management with clients who include Mckinsey, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Pfizer, Astrazeneca, Glaxo Smith Kline, Arup, Bupa Group, Capsticks, St Andrews Health, Odgers and many more.
