Longlisted for the Notting Hill Editions Essay Prize 2015, for a piece of creative non-fiction on the subject of Asylum tribunals. My essay, ‘Asylum - A Process Story’ was longlisted alongside essays from - among other literary figures - a finalist for the National Book Award. Michael Ignatieff, Phillip Lopate, and Adam Mars-Jones adjudicated the works based on the originality of the ideas, prose quality, and the ability to communicate to a wide audience.U

Won the Edinburgh University Innovative Community Action Award for a schools debating programme, which had record state school participation.
Founded the largest juniors debating tournament in Scotland with 40 teams attending. Organised the largest all-ages schools competition in the Debates Union’ history with 44 teams attending. Both competitions were run with record profits.
