About me
Forgotten archives, lost memories and decaying imagery are the focus of my illustrative practice. Uncovering and researching narratives buried within collections of found photography inspire my mixed media works. I have recently completed a masters degree in Illustration at Manchester School of Art achieving a distinction and in 2017 achieved a 1st class degree in Illustration with Animation from the same institution. I have shown my work at the Royal Academy of Arts down in London as part of their summer exhibition in 2017 & 2018 and have also had my imagery used in a project run by film director Danny Boyle. As a graduate member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, I am able to show my work in their annual exhibitions in and around the north-west. Based in the Peak District, I work from my home studio in a small village. When I’m not in the studio, you will probably find me at Elephantstones Gallery, where I have a selection of landscape works for sale. If you would like to chat, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! Will Robots Love Jesus? Danny Boyle talk for the launch of SODA at Home MCRFor the launch of the Manchester School of Digital Arts, current Manchester School of Art students were invited to a briefing by Danny Boyle to create visuals for his upcoming talk at Home MCR. My visuals were used throughout the talk and as the signature image to open the show. My visuals were also used on an e-shot campaign to promote the talk.

www.elephantstones.co.uk Named after the elephantine jumble of rocks on the edge of kinder plateau, Elephantstones Gallery is home to photography and artwork unashamedly intended to trigger a memory or evoke an image of a visit to the area. The gallery is also home to a collection of works by abstract painter Harry Ousey. Harry lived at Hill House farm in Hayfield from 1947 to 1950. www.harryousey.co.uk We also have a selection of ethically sourced gifts and ironwork made locally in the village! Alongside this, we also have a curated collection of vintage Scandinavian collectables. Cool! I have a selection of prints on display at Elephantstones available framed, unframed or as cards. Inspired by the landscape, I use digital techniques to create sparing line work pieces.

BA(Hons) Illustration with AnimationManchester School of Art

Awarded a 1st Class Degree During my BA, I was able to understand and explore new skills whilst developing a successful visual language. Experimenting with medium and moving away from the classical understanding of illustration allowed my practice to flourish and develop into something I am excited to further explore during a masters degree. My past, my memories and my family My final project explored the significance of family archives, specifically my own and how these collections house important family narratives. Having just inherited a large collection of photographs, I explored the ideas of mark making, memory and decay through ceramics. This medium helped me consider fragility and longevity whilst also challenging the perception of what illustration can be.

Awarded a Masters with Distinction I have recently completed a part time masters degree in Illustration at Manchester School of Art. Further exploring my practice, honing creative techniques and immersing myself in an academic understanding of my subject area has provided me with a greater understanding of where my practice fits in. Commemorating the peripheral and the sadness of unremarked lives Considering the significance of lasting commemoration, the importance of decaying archives and the sadness of loss, my final major project explored a single collection of photographs from the 1920s. Research trips, archive exploration and ethical understanding all played an important part in research which are all skills I am excited to continue to explore throughout my future practice.
