Recent Photography with Video Graduate from Ulster University, Belfast where I received a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours.
My time at UUB allowed me to develop myself as an individual and a Creative through practice, theory and professional experience with personal projects and group collaboration. Now that I have graduated, I am ready to build a career within the Creative Industry within the realm of producing and/or editing whether that is video or photography based content as I have built on my skills through my degree and also work experiences.
I have carried out a year long industry placement where I planned, produced and edited both photography and video projects that were distributed both for internal and social media use. I also have experience creating content and co-managing the social media account of a health/lifestyle business, where I continue to build my skills and knowledge.

Freelance Content Creator and Social Media Assistant for a health and lifestyle business which was a new experience for me, but one that allowed me to take initiative and work with a business to enhance their audience engagement and brand identity. During my time working with this business I completed a social media report, to allow the business to understand exactly who their audience is and how the content they are producing is being perceived and engaged with. From this, I made a plan of how they could progress forward on each of their platforms to ensure they were promoting their business and products effectively, while keeping up to date with trends and how other businesses are presenting themselves online.
In regards to the content creation, I was giving full creative control on how to perceive and develop each brief that was brought to me that usually focused on certain products or important days/events, which allowed me to create work for the business that came from a new perspective. The content I was creating was made through Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro and Canva as images and short informative videos, which were then edited for both Instagram and Facebook where the business had audience engagement.

A year long Industry Placement, which was carried out within the Civil Service.
Within this placement I was working within the Photography and Video Department which produced and edited work that was used both internally within the company and also posted externally on their various social media accounts. This placement gave me the experience of working to a varied time of deadlines, with certain projects having a quick turnaround while others were more extended over the year, which allowed me to carry out a wide range of projects throughout my year at the company.
These projects varied between both photography and video based which allowed me to expand my knowledge and experience within both areas. In the area of Video Production, I carried out various roles such as pre-production planning, filming, sound, lighting and editing which was beneficial as I was able to learn about each aspect and learn from each project dependent on my role. Within the area of Photography, I carried out various roles such as shooting, lighting and editing which like I said previously, allowed me to gain key knowledge with a varied responsibilities.
During these projects I expanded my experience in Video Production; including sound, filming and lighting and Photography; planning, production, editing and lighting. On the post production side, I expanded my knowledge of adobe applications as Lightroom, PremierePro and Photoshop were the key applications used within the company.
Overall, this placement opportunity allowed me to carry out various projects and hands on experience within a large company, showing me that there is opportunities within a wide variety of business sectors and that skills can be transferable between different projects. This opportunity also made me think about my career as I loved producing and editing the content during my time on placement, and I hope to carry this on and move into the industry.
