Ezequiel Romero began his filmmaking career by learning the craft all the way up from writing and directing to editing and VFX in order to shoot his ambitious and award-winning short films. He started his career in theatre before moving on to Madrid, were he would get involved as writer and director in the dawn of internet content through webseries and branded content, innovating as the medium grew to accomodate social media and the revolution of independent filmmaking and the first crowdfunded feature films, like The Cosmonaut, blurring the lines between traditional and new media.
He evolved into cinematography in his pursue of cinematic quality even in the smallest of films, creating fresh and captivating content and loving the adventure, energy and problem-solving quality of film work. That has taken him all over the world to shoot in the hearts of Africa and India, and to work with brands such as Lenovo, Vodafone, Axe (Lynx), Acer and Paramount Channel, Movistar or El Corte Inglés. Recent projects include the Indian film “The Disguise” and music videos such as Millie Turner’s “She was a dancer” and the Dutch band EUT’s “Sour Times”. The British-Ugandan feature “Imperial Blue” is on its way to major festivals around the globe.
Developing a style of grounded and honest filmmaking, he aimed to capture the warmth and humility of characters on film that makes them endearing. He gained recognition for his cinematography in the critically acclaimed comedy political series “El Partido” (“The Councillor”). His films such as “Moon Dust” have won awards and have been described as “tipping over into the awesome category” by outlets like IO9. Sundancetv described his experimental feature, “Nova” as “groundbreaking”.
He works regularly as AC and camera operator, including underwater, as he is a passionate diver. He attended the Complutense University of Madrid. He was born in Jerez and lives in London.

- The Unknown MasterpieceMy latest shortfilm, based on the short story by Honré de Balzac and shot on 16mm. I directed this piece as well as shot it, and it is the story of a young artist obsessed about achieving perfection through art and what gets dropped along the way. - AudiTo celebrate the launch of Audi's largest 4x4 the Q8, we were tasked with creating an engaging narrative featuring the up and coming Jazz musician Ashley Henry. We followed his journey from home to Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho for a rehearsal. He was great to work with and will be touring internationally with Christine and The Queens from October this year.
