My job at this online magazine is to help the Culture Desk, specialising in film. I organise the coverage of every cinematic release – working together with both PRs and our group of writers. • Liasing with film distributors and PR companies • Researching and pitcing ideas for articles • Organising and giving out assignments daily • Keeping in touch with a group of 30 writers and overseeing their work, making sure publication deadlines are met
As a volunteer at The Nomad Cinema – a series of outdoor pop-up screenings – I was part of a team that dedicated its time to create unique experiences. I gained impeccable customer service and problem-solving skills.
As a freelance contributor I wrote film reviews, interviewed actors and directors. I also worked on investigative features on social issues and current affairs.
I volunteered for Sundance London, Raindance, UK Jewish Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, LOCO London Comedy Film Festival in the following positions: • Front of House – representing the festival and ensuring a high quality customer service • Event photography – capturing the most memorable moments, the feeling of the festival • Press coverage – monitoring and writing reports about the press coverage of Sundance London Film Festival
During my 2-year postgraduate psychology course I specialised in counselling. Due to the pragmatic education I was able to pick up skills that I need to work with and help people. I learnt different types of counselling – besides individual, group and family therapy, school and work psychology were also part of my course. I completed two field exercises – one at a Psychiatry and one with 4-6 year old children struggling with behavioural problems.
Besides learning the basics to become a psychologist in a strongly theoretical training, I was required to complete several tasks in pairs and groups. I was expected to be able to conduct an empirical research process on my own.
