First Class BA (Hons) American StudiesUniversity of Manchester
- Manchester, United Kingdom
Interdisciplinary degree focusing on American Literature, History, Culture, Film and Politics. I was selected to study abroad at Rutgers University, New Jersey USA for one semester majoring in Gender and Sexuality Studies. This experience proved my motivation as a self-starter and has furthered my interest in the arts and film sectors through allowing me access to New York's most exciting galleries, events and cinemas. My Long Essay was entitled 'Reclaiming the Witch in Beyonce's Lemonade' and explored gender and feminism through a modern and unique perspective. I furthered my writing and communication skills to a First Class standard.

After one semester gaining skills in a variety of medium such as print techniques and graphic design, I specialised in Illustration. My final major project was to create an illustrated guide to Manchester using research and writing by me and exhibit the book in an exhibition at the end of the year. I have continued to use the skills and practices that I learnt during this year by frequently screen-printing and documenting my experiences in an illustration journal. I gained creative skills in Adobe Suite, Graphic Design and Illustration in a range of medias.
