About me

Graduated first in sociology in Rome and then in design and innovation at Central Saint Martins College in London, Federica lived and worked in London as a lighting designer for four years until 2020. By working within different lighting design firms, such as Isometrix, Studio 29, and LDC, she worked on projects such as Regent Street and Oxford Circus facades in London, Hotel Hilton, Mandarin Oriental hotels, Meydan Beach hotel in Dubai, Belmond, and so on, while collaborating on architectural projects by Lissoni Associati, David Chipperfield, Patricia Urquiola, Rockwell Group, and others. She specialized in lighting for hospitality and exclusive residential projects including private art collections, garden lighting, and historical heritage in Europe, Asia, and America. In 2021 she taught Lighting Design at La Sapienza University in Rome and opened her own studio that keeps working on lighting projects in Europe and abroad.

  Basilica Cistern - IstanbulRealized in collaboration with Studioillumina, the renovation of the ancient roman Cisterna in Istanbul is strongly impacted by lighting. The lighting design describes the visitor's travel within the Cistern, dividing the experience into separate phases: the going, the reflective part, and the coming back. Each phase is described by lighting in its dedicated way, adding mystery and history to the experience
• Jack's Bar - LondonJack's bar renovation needed to involve lighting as its main tool to change the feel of the space. Lighting was used to create strong contrasts within the bar, with the atmosphere balancing between dark and light. Accent lighting and diffused lighting were both used to create the experience.
• Private gallery - LondonThe purpose of this project was to create good dedicated lighting for all the art pieces, allowing the client to swap and replace the art very often as required by a gallery activity. Flexibility was a must as well as studies on each artwork.
