At the risk of looking like I take myself more seriously than I do, I’m going to include a filmmaker’s statement I wrote for a submission instead of coming up with something cooler to say: I had the urge to start making very short films because I'd often get ideas which were like glimpses of moments; fragments of
• Glimpses of LifeCreated little glimpses of life centred around Cou Cou's beautiful cotton underwear on 35mm film
• Icy FinsPlaying with sardines and obsessing with the way their scales shine so bright they’re almost metallic (on 35mm film!)
• Dreaming of CanelésAn idyllic mid-century picnic with nothing to eat but the most perfect custard canelés. Shot on 35mm film (as always!)
• Cotswolds Travel DiarySnatching moments of the Cotswolds on film. I was desperate to capture how saturated and heavy all the greenery was from the constant rain (which only made it more beautiful!)
• Sweet ReliefI was gripped with the urge to photograph food at a time I could barely eat, resulting in images of iridescent jelly and sticky honeycomb; palatable, safe and served up on a texturally unappealing platter – shot on 35mm film
