Worked independently with a secondary school to teach scriptwriting to underprivileged students, with an aim to increase their chances of continuing into higher education. Wrote a play collaboratively with the students through collecting their ideas and formalising them into a finished production, to be performed by professional actors at the university. Ensured all students’ voices were heard while educating, engaging, and challenging them, which taught me team leading and teaching skills.

Worked under industry leaders such as Steve Waters to develop and perfect language and communication skills, as well as critique and provide feedback for other students’ work. Learned research and preparation skills through writing for subjects requiring domain-specific knowledge e.g. police drama, science fiction. Volunteered as an editor for 2019’s MA creative writing anthology, requiring a methodical approach, excellent communication skills, much attention to detail, as well as flawless grammar and spelling. This role involved editing the writers’ work, discussing changes with them, and confirming decisions with head editor.

Final year dissertation involved writing a 60-page script for a sci-fi TV series, and a self-critiquing essay reflecting on my process. Contributed to the university’s newspaper, Concrete, which involved writing in a professional capacity and working closely with the editor. Published work in three of the university’s creative writing anthologies (2016, 2017, 2018). Gained ‘The Difference’ scholarship for academic excellence (2015).
