I'm an artist, filmmaker and costume designer based in Portland, Oregon. I began my career as a textiles artist, fashion and costume designer. I received my BFA in textiles and surface design at the University of Michigan and AAS degree in fashion design at Parsons School of Design.
I grew up as a first generation Taiwanese American in a small Michigan town. Since then, I've lived and worked in New York City, Paris and Taipei.
I work in an array of mediums: film, costume, fashion, textiles, performance, dance and photography. My work focuses on sustainability and "slow fashion". I've been the recipient of several art grants and my work has been featured in international publications and blogs; including Big, Tokion, Amica, Crash, Ecosalon, Portland Mercury, Artslandia and Oregon Artswatch.
Projects
- Oregon Ballet Theatre Costume DesignsThis year, I was honored to design costumes for the Oregon Ballet Theatre’s world premiere of Mirror, Mirror, choreographed by Michelle Manzanales (of Ballet Hispanico), which took place in June 2022. These costumes were fabricated with all sustainable materials and techniques.
- Future Cosmos Flow filmFuture Cosmos Flow is a 25-minute dance film about the power of water to transform our lives. This fable is about siblings who develop a super power related to water and use it to try to save their liquid kingdom from drying up. Future Cosmos Flow features Fuchsia Lin's costumes made from sustainable materials. They're worn by performers and set in motion through dance.
