International Relations and European StudiesThe University of Bucharest
     - Bucharest, Romania
    - Enrolled in the Foreign Affairs and European Studies bachelor's program at the University of Bucharest; - Attended lectures, seminaries, and conferences on European Studies, Global Economics, International Law and the European Union's Law; - Gained valuable skills including time and stress management, respecting deadlines. Unfortunately, my academic journey was cut short due to a multitude of disappointments: — Outdated curriculum and rigid methodology not aligned with today’s academic standards and the job market. — Emphasis on rote learning rather than practical hands-on experiences and lack of opportunities to develop critical thinking. — Underfunded facilities and lack of infrastructure: lack of books in the library (even though most of the required ones being out of print), not enough computers available for research (only two outdated Windows machines with CRT monitors available in the faculty’s library, and about six others in one of the laboratories). — Access to JSTOR was only available while connected to the internal network. No licenses for Microsoft Office provided by the institution. — Overcrowded classrooms, most of them being at full capacity during the lectures, and the seats could be classified as a health hazard. — Insufficient support from the professors, lack of teaching assistants; both during classes and during the exams (cheating was often rampant and unnoticed/unpunished). — Lack of any career guidance and counseling services. — UNPAID internship offered by the faculty to run its social media and online presence. — Underwhelming online classes during the COVID-19 quarantine, more captivating and better quality material available through e-learning platforms. — Student’s online portal being out of service 80% of the time, and suffering from a cyberattack resulting in a data breach around 2020, leaking sensitive information (date of birth and government ID numbers).
