I am a 23-year-old Photographer from Dunedin, New Zealand. I completed my 3 years Bachelor of Communication Design at Otago Polytechnic focusing on Photography which leads me to working for a New Zealand high-end fashion label, Company of Strangers.
I had a few different roles at this job but one of them was being the in-house Photographer. Every season I photographed the Look Book. This is where I would use my retouching skills in creating coherent images for a Look Book.
This included taking the images, retouching the images to make the colour of the colour correct to show an accurate depiction of the clothing, photoshopping any marks or objects that were out of place, photoshopping the makeup on the model if it needed retouching, cropping and saving all images for web etc.
I would work hard to complete this all in a few days as it was usually a fast turn around. I was constantly taking photos weekly to create new content for all social media channels so I had a look of editing to do weekly and I loved it.
My other role at this job was head of Social Media. I would run the brand social media and the flagship stores social media.
Part of my job at Company of Strangers was working in their flagship store, Company Store where I developed strong retails skills and customer service. I worked as part of a team and learned about the fashion industry from a retail perspective.
Working at Company of Strangers I was able to help with ordering in products, barcoding, tagging items, steaming, washing etc. I love working in fashion so am always happy to help whenever needed.
