As a portfolio management intern at Ticketmaster I had the opportunity to work alongside a highly experienced and international team gaining strong techniques to work effectively in complex project management settings. Exploring the different ways to increase efficiencies through facilitation and process simplification further enhanced my problem solving and analytical skills. As an Intern in the Accounting and Controller’s Division of IFAD, my main responsibilities were performing preliminary checks on loan and grant disbursements, preparing cash advance authorisation and undertaking ad hoc tasks like supporting the supervisor in the preparation of documentation for governing bodies meeting. In such an international and vibrant environment, I was able to further develop my international and global mind-set, demonstrating the faculty necessary to take ownership of tasks and to work successfully with people from a diverse background. I had the opportunity to prove myself as a self-starter by leading a team of 3 in developing a new ACD Intern Manual with the aim of ensuring and facilitating continuity of training and operations. I was able to appreciate the rules and assumptions underlying the preparation of published financial statements and to acquire a deeper understanding of financial issues in emerging markets.
