I am a freelance designer and my design contract has just come to an end, I am looking for freelance contracts (short or longterm) to take its place.
I have been a graphic designer and Artworker, mainly for print and branding for over twenty five years, I have worked on all manner of design projects in all kinds of business sectors so I know what works and what doesn’t.
Although I am at present a freelancer I have owned and run a design company before (for 14 years), employed junior designers and freelancers so I know how important it is to nurture a less experienced designer to get the most out of their work - not just because the end result is better but the designer themselves feel a sense of achievement with what they’ve done.
I can’t stand to be bored and I don’t like work to be easy, it’s far better to be challenged by something which in turn makes for a more rewarding and stimulating creative journey, charging me up to do the job I was meant to do and even better when working as part of a team. As I said, I am currently working as a freelance graphic designer but now want stability in my working life so this is the reason for seeking a full time position. If there is one thing I am very passionate about it’s building a brand. I love being part of a well designed identity, building it and watching it grow its way through brochures, advertising, websites etc - seeing the links of the brand forge together to become a strengthening wall of a company or organisation. Am I obsessive about this? Maybe I am, maybe I just love to see things work - properly, and being an integral part of that. I want to make a difference wherever I work and fix things which aren’t right. I want to make a difference with everything I do and I want to fix any problems I encounter.
Responsibilities for my own actions are second nature to me, because I work for myself I am very self-disciplined and always put my very best into every project - no matter how small, my ideas and design skills are my life blood, they are my reputation. And the qualifications…well, I have over twenty five years of solid, dependable work to back me up. I currently subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and use CC2019 every day so am fully up to speed with the latest software. I also use Powerpoint on a regular basis and try to create interesting presentations which get the attention of the viewer.
One thing I have learnt over the years from the viewpoint of an inexperienced college leaver to the person I am today, and that is experience cannot be bought or learnt quickly. Design is something which grows with you and entwines itself around your core so that you either know what is good and will work or what doesn’t so will cause problems further down the line.

I work from my home office but also onsite at clients’ offices, I also worked at the Financial Conduct Authority part-time until mid February 2017. I’ve worked with some large names - designing all manner of material for companies such as Gartner, Legoland, LG, Balfour Beatty, NHS, Centrica, Martin-Baker Aircrafts and of course many smaller businesses.
