In her career O'Flynn has worked with an eclectic selection of artists including: Anton Corbijn, Alan Bleasdale, Harry Enfield, Stomp, Terry Gilliam, Clive James, Bjork, The Verve, La La La Human Steps, New Order, P.J. Harvey, Eddie Izzard, Germain Greer, Richard Long, Martin Creed & The Dalai Lama.
Performing, screening & exhibiting with organisations including UNESCO, The Actors Centre, The British Film Institute, The British Council, Mexico Design Week, Istanbul Performance Festival & Google, her work has featured on media including, BBC, ITV, Sky, NBC, Channel 4 & Nat Geo.
The BBC called her, ‘That Conscious, Cathartic Voice’, Artrocker, ‘Bloody Brilliant' & Le Cool London 'Hugely Enlightening'. Frieze described a performance as, “an exhilarating show – a memory that will stay with us for a long time".
She started her career making films for Channel 4, ITV, BBC & Canal Plus. Her first video art work exhibited at The Tate, Liverpool, 1990. Her accolades include a BFI Award for her first short film, Girl, 1991, Women in Music Award , 2004, Cultural Leader, Cultural Olympiad, 2012 and her first solo theatre work,Everyone's Mother, John Thaw Award, 2019. Her music has featured on films including Argo, Oscar Best Picture 2013. She holds the record for the most gigs performed at one Glastonbury, 22 in 2007.
O'Flynn campaigns for humanitarian & environmental issues, has spoken to millions globally, campaigns for, Fair Trade For Artists, worked for The Dalai Lama & launched Artists For Nepal at Venice Biennale.
She founded her company, beinghuman & her not for profit the beinghuman collective, in 2000. O'Flynn has led artist residencies, performances & exhibitions globally & in the beinghuman warehouse in Frome, Somerset, sold in 2019. The beinghuman warehouse in East London is opening in 2021.
O'Flynn is a student of Dzogchen, a Himalayan philosophy she embeds in her life, work & art.
