I am currently in my third year studying BA Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts. Having previous experience in curation, creative writing and publication, alongside my own creative practice, I am interested in broadening my understanding and involvement within the creative field.
Beauty and decay; permanence in a moment; familiarity without consistency. It has been these themes, the universal reality of disintegration and decay, and the implications of time, that are fundamental to me and my practice. My work seeks to investigate the transient nature of our surroundings and the footprints we leave behind, touching upon memory, absence, destruction and uncertainty.
While my practice coalesces with both sculpture and textiles, it is the method of painting that is always at its very core. Fragile, tactile, weighted and unforgiving, my work transcends beyond the parameters of the traditional canvas; challenging the concept of the aesthetic and anti-aesthetic through the use of a variety of broken and re-purposed materials, I intend to push the surface to the point of near collapse.
