NCTJ-trained journalist and aspiring writer trying to start my career in the media industry. I'm passionate about current affairs and politics, as well as fashion, history and the arts. I also have a strong legal background, having studied Law as my undergraduate degree.
Work history
Communications Officer
Researching, writing, editing and proofing material in print and digital formats.
Creating, monitoring and promoting content for social media; developing campaigns around aspects of the Unit’s research.
Creating content for the Unit website & intranet.
Monitoring the performance of communications projects by gathering and analysing audience engagement through analytics.
Providing administrative support for meetings and communications activities, including creating agendas and producing minutes.

I undertook paid placements in the Press Office, Internal Communications, and Digital Communications
In the Press Office I learnt how to write a sub to request to lay a WMS before Parliament; monitored the news to keep abreast of current news events which affect my department; sought out relevant news and events to create a strategic grid; attended meetings and taken relevant notes; reviewed previous grids to analyse our accuracy at predicting events, and discern what we can do better.
In Internal Communications I wrote articles for Home Office media, sub-edited, and am currently working on a comprehensive guide to internal communications, including a ‘how to’ guide about writing for different media and audiences, basic writing and editing tips, good and bad communications and how to create your own communications strategy.
In Digital Communications I worked with the Digital Communication’s Channel Optimisation team to review and improve the performance of digital channels. I gained an understanding of continuous improvement processes using, research, analysis of performance data and web analytics to underpin the changes made. I also gained an understanding of digital channels and support processes.
