About me
I’m an Architect, Creative Coder and 3D Artist specializing in Computational Design and Visualization. I have a keen interest in immersive technologies, interactive media and the fusion of computation with art and architecture. The combination of my Architectural & Engineering education with my background in Fine Arts, drives my hybrid approach to coding, as both a precise instrument for problem-solving and an expressive tool for designing experiences. Constantly intrigued by complex multi-dimensional problems, I enjoy using technology to formulate questions about physical and digital space and the human experience. My adeptness at learning new skills and assembling methods and notions from various disciplines, has shaped my professional & academic experience towards a diverse range of team projects: from robotic arms and interactive artifacts, to bespoke architectural solutions; from User Interfaces for participatory design, to computational cartographic tools for smart cities. I am a 3d printing and 3D Scanning geek, experimenting with ways to capture, represent and gamify reality. I enjoy academic teaching and lecturing, through which I have woven highly technical subjects with philosophy, cultural phenomena and DIY/Hacker ethics. My work has been exhibited at the Benaki Museum and Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens and featured by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, as well as in the 8th Young Greek Architects Biennial. I actively research and develop KEMP Platform, the first computational toolkit for the automatic, ontology-aware 3D generation of Athens’ buildings. I am a hobbyist photographer and cartographer, addicted to vast landscapes and cityscapes.

  • KEMP: A Digital Platform for Participatory Design
KEMP: A Digital Platform for Participatory DesignTools & Processes for the Design of Shared Outdoor Spaces in the Backyards of Athens City Blocks National Technical University of Athens, Master Thesis Project Our thesis focuses on the typical Athenian multi-storey building, “Polykatoikia”, and specifically, on its inability to provide adequate and quality shared spaces, equally accessible to all residents. We develop and propose KEMP, a toolkit for the design of multi-level, adaptable outdoor shared spaces, positioned within the three-dimensional void of the typical Greek city block. KEMP combines urban design and analysis tools with a communication platform for the active collaboration of residents and engineers, in the context of a digitally augmented participatory design process. Through beta version implementation of the proposed digital tools and participatory process simulation, we attempt an indicative design solution for the creation of shared spaces in an existing city block, while assessing the efficiency of these tools for augmenting the participatory design process.
