This role has a unique mixture of skills that are required which include:
- The ability to work under immense pressure, to remain calm in life threatening situations.
- Being an effective and empathetic communicator - adapting my communication to suit cultures.
- Discretion when attending to VIPs, royalty and celebrities.
- Strong knowledge of aviation medicine, firefighting and evacuation procedures. Which are updated yearly.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, using creativity to resolve complaints.
- Confidence- this is needed due to the amount of public speaking and interaction with hundreds of customers on a single flight.
- Multitasking- being security and safety aware at all times whilst working in unpredictable and an isolated environment.
- Administration skills- remaining organised with inflight sales, adhering to sealing and legal documenting procedures which vary depending on the country.
- Ability to adapt- each flight I am working with a new crew team and management, this means I am able to adapt to different management styles as well as being able to build up a rapport with a team quickly.
During my time at British Airways, I have dealt with numerous medical emergencies and have gained formal recognition from management for my actions. My scores have always been above target for inflight assessments.
