Geraldine Spilker draws inspiration from artistic, architectural and cultural sensibilities of the past. Her work accentuates notions and values that have fallen into oblivion, while the world evolves. Translating these to our present, is achieving their essence by the means of contemporary circumstances. Giving this heritage and values a relevant, contemporary and reckoned context in which they can evolve and remain as a magnificent heritage to the future, while having a genuine role in the present, defines the focus of her work.

Analyzing which architectural elements and principles make the historic facades to it’s enchanting and engaging presence, in order to imagine how these inherited values can be recontextualized in our existing and prospective built environment. The creation of beauty, through the art of craft, was seen as the central task of the architect, conceptualizing how these can meet todays building possibilities and architectural visions is the essence of this project.
- 339 holesInspired from an earthquake safe architecture from over 1500 years ago, this cabinet invites the user to welcome inclination. We live in a world, where furniture is judged to be good, when it is straight and static. Hierarchy in diameters of the holes and the wooden sticks allows the cabinet to only consist of sticks containing sticks, with no fixed joints, creating a surprisingly moving cabinet. Like the unifying letter O, we are an organic family of members that work as a team , supporting one another while following their own individual paths. Collaboration-O is an Eindhoven based collective of 14 Designers and artists. The collective is sub-divided in lots in which we could each construct a 2-level studio; balancing a wireless office area with an open-plan workspace.
