I've been providing graphic design services to companies, large and small, across the UK and beyond for over 20 years. From logos and brand identity to advertising, exhibitions, merchandise, packaging, books, brochures, direct mail, POS, vehicle livery, web design, video production and animation.
In 2013 I relocated to Cornwall to extend my services and experience to one of the most exciting and fast growing business communities in the UK … but it may also have had something to do with the beautiful scenery, clean air and awesome surf. In addition to being a hobby, surfing also inspired me to launch the organic and ethical fashion brand SurfKernow® in 2017.
Projects
- Transport StoryUniversity of Surrey needed a short animated explainer film to highlight their efforts towards providing more sustainable transport solutions for their students, employees and visitors. Using existing branding elements and colours, we opted for a flat-icon style to create fun and colourful animated illustrations. All timed to an upbeat acoustic soundtrack and accompanying voiceover.
- ROCKBOTTOMI was approached by London-based contemporary dancer Stuart Waters to help promote his solo dance piece, an autobiographical work which tells the story of his personal journey through addiction and recovery. I felt it was important to let the work speak for itself as much as possible using simple but powerful imagery and clean typography through the poster and flyer designs. I also carried this clean graphic design approach into the bespoke WordPress website, which I also developed, as part of
- Human in HRAs part of a global re-branding exercise, London-based employee engagement company Reward Gateway needed an inspirational animation to use internally and externally as a visual mission statement to help launch the new brand. Working with Dreaming Fish Productions, I created a minimalist, text-based animation focusing on the key messages with subtle iconography, led by an emotive score. 'Human in HR' won a Gold Award (Use of Special Effects / Animation) in the 2014 Aurora Awards.
- Trespass – Stopgap Dance CompanyInternationally renowned inclusive dance company Stopgap needed an integrated print and digital campaign to promote their national tour of 'Trespass', featuring two complementary dance pieces individually choreographed by Thomas Noone and Rob Tannion. Working with the Stopgap dancers and photographer Hugo Glendinning, I created posters, flyers, banners and digital communications for web, video and email – highlighting the dynamism of the piece and portray the dark undertones and personalities o
- 100 Acts of Minor DissentAs part of a nationwide tour, comedian, journalist and political activist Mark Thomas set himself the task of committing 100 acts of minor dissent in 1 year. Culminating in a 5 hour gig and an exhibition of the protest art created for the project at Sheffield's Millennium Gallery. - StellarLondon-based employee benefits company Reward Gateway established an annual awards event in 2012 to recognise excellence in the employee reward and recognition sector. For the 2014 event, they wanted a 'spectacular' animation to be used to start the awards ceremony. It also needed to complement their brand colours and work seamlessly throughout the evening in a series of bumpers and stings, and as a background to the nomination announcements and individual awards.
