Chinese and International DevelopmentSchool of Oriental & African Studies
     - London, United Kingdom
My research interests included Global media, communication and development, Queer Asian Cinema, global sexualities and genders, and education. My thesis investigated the information and communication technologies and strategies local queer filmmakers and activists in China use to overcome censorship and socio-political invisibility, and further the LGBTQ movement in China in the digital era. I studied Chinese reading, writing, listening and speaking to an advanced level. I achieved the Confucius Institute HSK Scholarship in first year for my year abroad in Beijing. I then achieved the Confucius Institute HSK 5 Certificate during my year abroad at Beijing Normal University in Sept 2015- Jun 2016. Through my degree, I developed a blog regarding veganism and it’s socio-economic and environmental impacts. I also acquired hand-on interviewing skills by conducting various face-to-face interviews with activist group FoodNotBombs in North London, as well as more commercial entities like Planet Organic and Alara Health Store. I also learnt how to write policy reports and press releases as well as how to use project management tools to plan and monitor projects via LogFrames and Gantt Chart.
