About me
I am enthusiastic, personable and confident with a sound knowledge of contemporary and modern fine art; I have a broad range of skills, experience and personal qualities appropriate to excel in Art Gallery and visual arts roles. I have recently left my employment as a Gallery Associate at Peter Triantos Art Galleries (Toronto, Canada) and am now looking for my next step. It proved to be a valuable experience, but after two roles in distinctly commercial galleries I am eager to learn from and experience a different perspective in visual art. To be a part of an organisation that priorities creativity, collaboration, and artistic innovation would be a joy and a privilege. During my time at Peter Triantos Art Galleries and also the Elaine Fleck Gallery (a predominantly photography based gallery, also in Toronto) I experienced first hand the intricacies of running a contemporary art gallery. My tasks at both galleries were diverse including administration, sales, design, events, marketing and research tasks. At Peter Triantos sales were primary, I would analyse clients’ (often uncertain or vague) needs, taste and budget and advise, build and curate personalised private client portfolios on our website, always striving to provide the very best in customer service. I created invoices, updated inventory and archive databases, documents and web platforms updated visual floor plans, planned events, and organised consultancy and private gallery and studio visits. At Elaine Fleck I primarily sourced new artists for representation, catalogues and group shows, and produced all the associated design work, including catalogues and promotional material, using InDesign, Photoshop and Mailchimp. I also wrapped, transported and assisted with hanging of artworks, prepared and processed tax documents and invoices, edited and updated artist bios, created and hung artwork labels and pricing, ran all social media platforms and undertook many additional personal assistant tasks for Elaine Fleck. Articulate and professional correspondence with artists, clients, and partner organisations by email, phone and in person was a vital part of both roles. My verbal and written communication skills are exceptional. I have presented my own research at international conferences, I have written and edited press releases, reports, grant applications, presentations and social media copy, and successfully promoted and discussed artwork online and in person in both my gallery roles. I have strong organisational and administrative skills, tested and honed across a range of organisations. As a project coordinator at Hay Group, an international management consultancy, impeccable administrative support for consultants and project managers was crucial in the high pressure and fast paced environment. I successfully worked across several projects and with competing deadlines while providing front line customer support. This really taught me the value of great team work and a positive attitude. My work as a supervisor in the boutique service industry further cultivated my ability to be the charismatic and welcoming face of an organisation, accommodating the needs of guests, selling and promoting products, and working within a seamless and supportive team. I bring both high attention to detail and proven enthusiasm. I am a self-starter and am dedicated to learning new skills and processes. In the last year I have taught myself how to proficiently use InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom and Squarespace, among other programs. I’ve worked hard and enthusiastically in all my varied roles, meeting the challenges they presented me with, forging strong relationships and always learning and growing. I would be a committed, intelligent, energetic and supportive addition to a arts organisation.

    My responsibilities included: | Selling Artworks: Charismatically greeting and providing excellent customer service to clients and having comprehensive knowledge of the artworks, prices, dimensions, and artist bio and persuasively discussing and suggesting the artworks. After walk-ins or expressions of interest I would follow up with a curated selection of artworks tailored to precisely fit the needs and taste of each individual client, and build private client E-Portfolios on Squarespace. | Gallery Administration: Corresponding with clients, partner organisations and media outlets, scheduling consultancy and private gallery and studio visits. Creating invoices and associated sales documents. Updating the Squarespace website, troubleshooting website issues, archiving sold works, checking all previous archiving for errors and correcting and updating. Creating social media posts across platforms. | Event Planning: Setting up event profile and managing ticket sales via Eventbrite, developing and editing sponsorship proposal packages, acquiring event sponsorship. | Gallery Maintenance: Maintaining the luxury aesthetic of the galleries daily, cleaning, sweeping, watering plants, including impeccable personal presentation. | Writing and Editing: I was immediately entrusted with the lead role in editing magazine articles and interviews, writing press releases, writing, editing and designing a variety of promotional material both online and for print, composing and editing emails to clients for other members of staff and took the initiative to complete a total re-write of the website text. | Design Work: Designing the gallery catalogues using Canva, Photoshop and InDesign, also designing promotional material, event fliers, marketing and partnership packages. Super imposing art works in stock images using Photoshop, and creating image composites in InDesign. Created a series of videos of best practice for this work for other staff to learn from. | Research: Internet etc. research of organisations, consultants, high end designers, media platforms, and high profile individuals to establish partnership or promotional opportunities and artwork placement, and reaching out via phone and email communications.

Gallery maintenance and upkeep. | Selling Artworks; Discussing, promoting and selling our artworks to buyers and potential clients, requiring excellent persuasive and confident communication, and in depth knowledge of the artworks and the artists represented. | Design Work; Designing, laying-out, editing and assisting with the curation of the Fleck Fine Art Catalogue; requiring strong InDesign skills, Photoshop proficiency, a sharp eye for detail and accuracy and ability to meet pressing deadlines. | Marketing and Promotional Work; Designing, writing and editing promotional marketing material for distribution to our online mailing list. Growing our online presence and reach to generate increased sales requiring use of databases on and off line and Mailchimp.
