- Hoods UpHelping older people stay warm, stay well and save money in winter. As we get older it can become a struggle to stay warm at home and afford to keep the heating on due to the poor energy efficiency of properties in the UK. The majority of people living in fuel poverty are over 65. In the past winters, there have been 25,000 deaths annually of older people due to preventable illness associated with living in cold homes. The hood rolls back in stages to give as much or as little privacy as desired. It can roll back fully and be used as a neck cushion for comfort while sitting or when the hood is not needed. The hood has been quilted to give it the structure it needs, it is lined with 135gsm wadding for insulation properties to keep you as warm as possible whilst allowing air to circulate inside the hood. the panels are designed to encourage the rolling folds and help control the motion.
- VariablesThese vases look the same from the outside but they all have varying weights. Lopsided miniature vases have been created as a challenge to interfere with the slip casting process. The overhang front of the vases created a need for variation in wall thickness which is usually avoided within the process.

Product and Furniture Design
-
Product and Furniture design allowed me to explore vast areas of design and to realise my strengths and passions. I was able to learn many skills within the workshop and working with ceramics and textiles as well as woodworking and metalworking. I improved upon my Adobe Creative Suite skills and Solidworks and Rhino 3D. I became confident in my design process and concept development.
