I'm a freelance communications professional with over seven years' experience a variety of industries. In my time I've been an editorial assistant, a community manager, a web editor, a digital communications editor, a copywriter, a journalist, a composer and a pr officer. The things that I think underpin all of these roles is a good knowledge of audiences — understanding their needs and how to communicate with them, and good writing. Permanent member of this small but perfectly formed PR agency. A team of three, we work year-round on activity at Summerhall — Edinburgh's multi-disciplinary arts venue — including managing their press officer during the Edinburgh Fringe. We also work on a range of theatre clients across the world, including Briefs Factory, Courtney Act, and Hot Brown Honey.
As a freelance culture journalist I have written features for VICE, MEL Magazine, Nylon, The Outline, New Statesman, MUNDIAL, The New European, The Pool, and many others.
Composed original music for two large scale projects with MUNDIAL Magazine: the first series of GIANT, a football podcast produced by Spotify, and a video content partnership with Ladbrokes. For both I was given loose briefs around theme, length, instrumentation and mood and from there produced a suite of music that could be used flexibly by the producers.
Brought in to rewrite the about page for this climbing company. Tone had to be inspiring and with a view to creating a community around the brand, focusing on its roots as a business founded and run by women, without alienating its male audience.
Short stint working as a remote copywriter for boutique subscription coffee service Pact. Tasks included writing e-comms around the implementation of new GDPR regulations, and online product descriptions for a range of different coffees.
Large scale project rewriting product descriptions for a luxury flooring website. Tasks were to write heavily keyworded descriptions for over 30 different kinds of rug and flooring, making sure that each was distinct. Total of 13,000 words approximately.

I was a key part of the communications team for the largest film education charity in the UK, beginning as an editorial assistant before working my way up to Digital Communications Editor, managing a team of two writers. Worked on large scale projects including launching a new YouTube channel, building a new educator facing website, launching both the Into Film Festival and Into Film Awards, as well as regular content planning.
