A bit about me
I am currently studying a Textile design BA(hons) at Arts University Bournemouth. During my degree I have interned with a variety of design brands including: Primark, Hallmark, Tatty Devine and KITE clothing. I would describe my approach to design as energetic and I love it when my designs spark people’s memories. I like to work very quickly; often producing inky and painterly first-hand drawings to capture my immediate thought on a place or thing. I love creating conversational prints by using my illustrations in a playful way. I have a passion for colour and trend research, often getting inspired by lots of ideas and influences at the beginning of a collection. I would describe myself as creative, proactive and enthusiastic. I hope I can bring a fresh design perspective and a fun energy to your team.
Projects
- 'My Greek Fishing village' Unisex childrenswear - Graduate collection‘My Greek Fishing village’ is a unisex childrenswear collection inspired by the rich culture and serene landscape of the beautiful islands in Greece. From quaint harbours’ full of fishing boats to the traditional tiles and pottery of the region, the collection captures this relaxed Greek culture in playful conversational hand and digital prints, alongside illustrative CAD embroidery samples. Using organic denims and linens, mixed with bamboo silks and soft organic cotton jerseys this collection
- Swinging 60's - A mini-me Girlswear and Womenswear collectionThis collection is inspired by 1960's London and Carnaby street with inspiration being taken from the print, patterns and fabrics of boutique owners of the time. It consists of a combination of jersey designs, mixed with playful and tactile fabrics such as PVC materials and fun faux fur. I have created a homage to the era with this collection styling the designs to suit both womenswear and girls wear age ranges. I have also create my own embellishments using laser cut acrylic to create zip-pulls
- Bug Explorer - A unisex childrenswear collection S/S 20Inspired by the idea that a garden is a jungle to a child, this collection plays with scale and colour to embrace gender neutral clothing and print. The playful use of illustration and hand print techniques beside some digital embroidery and tactile aspects such as foiling and beading is perfect for the commercial market of children swear.
Work history
Homeware Design InternPrimark
- Dublin, IrelandInternship
Working alongside the Homeware Design team assisting with curating trend boards for stories, designing a variety of homeware prints for softs and bedding using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
During my 6 weeks I had a focus on expanding the Kids bedding range for S/S20. This consisted of curating trend reports to develop a trend story, pulling Pantone’s to create palettes and drawing/designing AOP’s and placement prints.
Experience using InDesign to create templates for trend reports and mood boards.
Attending meetings to discuss range planning and sitting in on appointments with print suppliers.
The placement improved my knowledge of a commercial high street design team. Working to a short time scale, in a large office environment. Working to alongside Pantone’s and briefs within AOP and placement print designs.
