I am an extremely enthusiastic junior creative constantly seeking new projects in which I can get involved. At this point in my career, I am exploring creative opportunities in as many fields possible in order to gain knowledge, experience, and an idea of what it is that I want to pursue devotedly.
I have been assisting in stage managing Albert's Schloss' 'Kunst Kabaret' performances held on a Tuesday night in the busy Deansgate bar. My presence is there to aid the performers (from providing water to fixing costumes), and learn exactly how to run a night smoothly (from backstage cue-to-cues to ensuring safety of performers front of house.)
As a promenader my main objective is to creatively entertain customers at the bar. I am required to come up with a character concept for a set brief; I can interpret this in any way I see appropriate, from interpretive dance to method acting. I like to be interactive with customers in my entertainment as I'm interested in immersive theatre and this approach demands me to be mentally switched on constantly in order to have rapport with the customer.
I worked on setting up for and facilitating Sounds From The Other City Festival this year. My duties included decorating the stage areas prior to the event and signing people up for the dog show on the day.
I am Stage Managing independent theatre company Act 1 Theatre's musical production this July. I have been conducting the spatial planning of the building in which the performance will take place in order to build staging and lighting rigs. Throughout the four night run I will be present to assist with anything the performers, crew or director should need.
I spend two months interning at this independent clothes shop in Chorlton. Some of my duties in the workshop included hand stitching garments to finish them off; practising using the industrial sewing machine and overlocker and pressing clothes ready for wear. On the shop floor I would be greeting customers and introducing them to the shop’s ethos and observing one-to-one fittings with the client and the boss. I also engaged in some of the shop's administrative tasks including end of day reports; receipt audits and organisation; stock taking and account management. From a social media aspect, I would edit photos and caption them before posting on instagram.
I graduated with Distinction from this course.
