About me
I believe that my degree in music has equipped me with transferable skills that are necessary for success in any business. I work well in a team environment as well as being very self-motivated. This is demonstrated through my experience both in a busy retail environment, as well as working and studying as a musician. The ability to listen to others and know what each individuals role is in a large group setting is a crucial aspect of performing. Throughout my degree in music, the ability to set your own deadlines and work to a schedule was crucial in order to complete the degree to a high standard. As the majority of the course was coursework and practical based rather than set exams, I demonstrated the ability to meet deadlines, as well as working under pressure in performance based situations. The academic side of0 my chosen degree required me to analyse information and draw conclusions, using good computer skills. The organisation of rehearsals, events and recitals with large groups of musicians to showcase our performance work was also one of my responsibilities, not only giving me experience in communicating information between various people but also in organising the events. Through giving performances and also lectures and presentations on various topics I am a confident speaker and knowledgeable and passionate about verbal communication. Throughout my various roles in customer service, team coordination and organisation has been key to keeping everyone up to date on the runnings of the day to ensure the businesses runs effectively. Here, my strengths are the ability to communicate well and motivate a team of people to perform the job to a high standard. In my every day work I am self-motivated and enthusiastic when approaching any given job to ensure the best outcome I could have achieved. One of my interests is music, encompassing listening, attending gigs and performing as a percussionist and drummer. My interest in music always inspires other aspects of my life and hobbies towards constantly being creative. As well as performing in various jazz ensembles and orchestras as a percussionist, for five years I have been a member of one of the United Kingdom’s top samba bands and have progressed to playing the most difficult instrument to master within the troupe, which demonstrates my commitment to improving my skills in whatever situation I find myself. I have a keen interest in Art, I regularly visit many of London’s art galleries. Am also a keen photographer, being an active member of Watford Camera Club. Here, my interest is both with taking photographs as well as attending events and galleries of photographers works, actively researching different techniques to drive my interest and improve my skills. I started with film photography in secondary school, developing my own images in a darkroom, I now work mainly with digital photography which allows me to manipulate and post-process photographs in Adobe Lightroom and photoshop.

My duties at Magic Memories were as part of the front house sales team and to take various photographic memories of visitors at attractions. These were then produced and put into a presentation pack for the visitor as they leave the venue and as part of the sales team I encouraged purchase of the the pack. I was the first and last person to greet the customer, which involved being engaging, enthusiastic and getting the customer immersed in the experience. The job required very good personal skills, working with the general public in a busy working environment which during the peak times could be over 2500 visitors per day. Working well in a team was crucial, always keeping in contact with team members via radio throughout the day to ensure visitors time is enjoyable and fun.
