  • • Project management and research: I founded a completely unique form of publishing current affairs: exploring the news through poetry: an honest form and effective at portraying feeling and reactions to what is occurring today. My research carries through to staying informed on the news and writing poems on what is personal to me and popular for readers. • Writing and editing: all poetry is written and edited in accordance with my unique house style. • Marketing: I am present on social media platforms, sharing, tagging and boosting articles to increase online reach and clicks.

  • • General administrative support: taking telephone reservations, operating a switchboard, responding to emails, filing and photocopying, arranging couriers, dealing with and solving general enquiries, and practicing standard operating procedures. • IT: daily use of Microsoft Office and in-house software has vastly transformed my IT skills. • Team leader: leading a team of seven staff members. • Front of house: meeting and greeting members, acting as a first point of contact, building personal and professional relationships with members, and providing stellar customer service. • Planning and budgeting: creating rotas whilst managing the department’s wage budget. • Recruitment and training: leading interviews to meet prospective employees and devising and delivering in-depth training plans for new employees. • Writing reports: compile daily housekeeping and weekly management reports that document in-house occurrences, managing issues, and progress. Written communication skills have improved and are exemplary. • Organisation and presentation: attend monthly members relations meetings to report back on the state of affairs to the global membership team, and hold inductions for new members to introduce them to the club. Both have developed and rejuvenated my verbal skills. • Financial responsibilities: retrieving outstanding payments.

  • • Proofreading and editing: proofread articles for stylistic, content and grammatical mistakes before editing, ensuring quality published content in accordance with Surrey Scholar’s house style on the company’s database. • Team leader and teamwork: attended weekly meetings to liaise with other department editors and the editor-in-chief regarding the creative direction of my department. • Proactive: implemented ideas that transformed the website: a collection of each writer’s work as a biography to enhance their profile and the webpage daily hits. • Social media: stayed present on key social media websites, publicising all work. In order to increase readership, I sourced related media and practiced the writing of punchy taglines.
