Commercial Content AssistantRoyal Academy of Arts

As the Commercial Content Assistant I supported the RA’s overall commercial objective to drive E commerce traffic and revenue to a diverse audience - delivering the right content, in the right place, at the right time. Working within the Audience & Experience department, I had a variety of roles and experiences, as the company pushed collaboration and creativity. I successfully used UX data to inform content strategy, design the website, photograph both products and lifestyle imagery and maintain the look and feel of the site on a seasonal basis. This meant ever-changing work, strict deadlines and needing strong communication skills as I collaborated with copywriters, external sellers and across the company’s teams. I would present and discuss ideas and updates in weekly meetings with the heads of departments as I had no manager. This was not only exciting to be able to put my ideas forward, but pushed me to develop new skills and maintain the Academy’s high standard at every moment. Alongside my content role, I often helped other departments where I could. Being a hands on person I would photograph artists and artwork, both in the building and on location, to help develop the new shows and exhibitions, namely Marina Abramović, William Kentridge (Hon) RA, Rana Begum RA, Mohini Chandra and many more.

I started Ostrich Magazine whilst living in Amsterdam as I wanted to create a platform to champion new emerging artists and creatives. Building a platform where we created our own content, organised interviews, got in touch with larger artists for insights into their practice. We had interviews with Joshua Hagler, an amazing weekly article on Selective Mutism, Tel Aviv based twin artists Nil & Karin Romano and the incredible South Korean based artist Hyangmok Baik who had an exhibition in London over the summer. It took a lot of work to go through submissions, organise articles and interviews, produce content, post daily and maintain engagement. We raised money for the charity akt, an lgbtq+
youth homelessness charity working across the UK.
