About me

I am really enthusiastic to begin a career in the journalism, advertising, and PR industry. I have taken work placements in journalism and PR, which have helped me realise that the communication and journalism industry is where I would like to work. I would like to gain work in the journalism, advertising, and PR industry. I love building relationships something which I got to express when I was a PR assistant for Mountain Warehouse my role involved writing blog posts, press releases, and e-alerts, talking to journalists, contributing to brain storms, and scheduling and writing Facebook and Twitter posts using Hootsuite. During my time in this role I had to have a perfectionist approach, be personable and self-motivated, and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment. This role also required me to have a good knowledge of Google docs, Microsoft Word and Excel. During my MA our group created and produced two magazines one about food and one about child YouTube stars. This required me to deliver multiple projects at the same time and I also used Wordpress to upload written and video content, learnt SEO techniques and got practice using Google trends and analytics. I also got to practice taking and editing photos using Photoshop as well as filming and editing videos using Premiere Pro.I have carried out work experience at Sunday Times Travel, That’s Life magazine and Marie Claire which was a great opportunity to work on my research, fact checking and subbing skills. I had to have impeccable grammar and proofreading skills and it gave me the opportunity to write a piece for each publication. These opportunities taught me how to work well within an editorial team, produce high standard copy to a deadline, and research/interview effectively for a story.
