About me
Hi there!! My name is Inês Costa aka "Inesh, Aines, Enesh”I'm a graphic designer and illustrator. Born and raised in Lisbon but originally from Guiné Bissau. I like to describe my work as a simplification of complex surroundings. I believe that the solution to design should emerge from its content: the meaning behind the design is as relevant as its aesthetics. Which directly connects to my own self. Being a woman of color in my field is definitely a challenging experience. But in those challenging moments and repetitive explanations, I often find a new opportunity to re-educate, re-introduce some of the values and experiences some people may not understand. That way I’m not only educating someone else I’m re-affirming myself.

    Runner UpBloomsbury Festival
To enter the 2017 Bloomsbury Festival identity competition which theme was independence. I've created a colourful collage where a blackbird can be seen 'detaching' itself from the coloured ''pattern''. The idea of the bird flying away represents independence and peace that can be often associated with the colour white but in this case, I've decided to use black to showcase this new 'mutation'' and a new beginning. The new path that freedom is. The poster got 2nd place runner up and it was featured in the festival art exhibition.
