About me

I have recently concluded a four year course at the University of Kent studying English and American Literature and Creative Writing (BA Hons) and have received an Upper Second Class Degree at almost 69%. I spent my fourth year as an Erasmus student at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic where I continued my English Literature studies, took modules in politics, political science and post-war art and learnt the Czech language. This broadened my studies as it allowed me to explore my interests outside my course in an academic sphere and provided me with a deeper understanding of much of the literature I was studying. I have worked in a variety of customer service roles, taught for an online tutor service and taken on volunteer positions during NCS and DebateMate. I have 3 A levels graded ABB in Psychology, English Literature and Politics and a grade A in an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

In my third year at the University of Kent I joined the online tutoring service MyTutor, giving lessons to KS4 students (individually or in small groups) who were dealing with poor motivation and classroom engagement. I ran a variety of lessons in English Language and Literature as advised by the students’ teachers and helped the students on how to plan, write and edit longer form essay questions for their upcoming exams. I utilised my planning and group management skills to motivate students to improve their academic goals

During my first year at the university I wrote for the student newspaper, InQuire, taking part in their ‘This Kent Girl Can’ edition, which was a homage to the ‘This Girl Can’ movement. I published an opinion piece on what it means to be an influential woman in 2018 and what this meant to me. I conducted my own research, produced a first draft and had an editor to refine the article before it was published.
