It was a complete contrast to anything I had previously experienced, however, I grasped the importance of the role and further enhanced my organisational, communication and marketing skills.         • During my placement at Overseas I was able to fully utilise my communication skills, reporting directly to the Managing Director, creating written content for marketing materials and managing store employees in order to launch a new social media strategy. Dealing directly with their creative agency, writing and supplying briefs and following these through to the final execution. My responsibilities included: • Conducting competitor analysis on all forms of marketing in order to identify industry wide best practices including; o In-store POS o Advertising o Website and digital • Production of a detailed Overseas SM website report in order to identify key improvements • Production of a development plan for a new Overseas website • Identifying improvements for the company's marketing and training collateral and liaising with their design agency in creation of new concepts and final designs • Identifying improvements for the company's loyalty card scheme and liaising with a design agency in creation of new conceptual design • Generating content for new internal and external marketing materials, such as a company brochure, training manuals, employee handbooks, folder and newspaper advertisements Launching a new social media strategy using Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and reorganising the company’s social media plan for each individual store

        • As part of my university degree, I was required to undertake a placement year to further my industry experience and develop my Spanish language skills. Throughout my placement at Viscofan I was able to strengthen my knowledge on the workings of a communication department in a Spanish multinational, a department in which I had no previous experience. My responsibilities included: • Supporting the communication department in developing both current and new communication strategies • Developing internal communication tools, such as the internal employee magazine and intranet • Creating various forms of communication media, such as presentations, videos and magazine content • Assisting with concept creation and execution of layouts for all communication materials • Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating costs for internal and external PR and marketing events in the USA • Coordinating foreign subsidiary employees for the purpose of a company-wide competition • Personally assisting the Communication Director during the take-over of an American company, acting as the bridge between Spanish and English language and culture
