I'm Jack, a 23 year old MA Literature graduate looking to break into the creative sector. I hope to one day combine my abilities with the camera and my many years writing in academia to create projects that truly boil down a subject into an article or photo journal (or both) that becomes microcosmic of the experience I am tasked with documenting.

Founder of the Sheffield startup and DJ collective 'BHAUS Music' commissioned me to cover their opening night at the esteemed venue of Theatre Deli. The night was a dazzling display of hypnotic visuals, techno and house talent from across Yorkshire (and even parts of Austria).

After my undergraduate degree I decided to further specialise in the fields of postmodern literary criticism but this time with a heavy emphasis on philosophy. Some of the assignments I am most proud of saw me comparing the work and philosophies of Albert Camus' 'Le Mythe de Sisyphe' with George Orwell's 'Animal Farm,' or exploring the relationship between the genesis of Gothic fiction and Shakespearean tragicomedy, or most eminently, reading robots in early science fiction as demonstrative of human relationships with objects and 'things.' After four years of academic and creative writing I am confident in my writing and research abilities.

In my undergraduate English degree I specialised in the science fiction, gothic, postmodern, and apocalyptic genres of literature. I also elected to take some creative writing modules which provided my with valuable writing skills outside of the academic sphere. In the end I achieved a high 2:1 degree classification and went on to study an MA at the University of Sheffield.

School Prize for Exceptional Contribution in EnglishUniversity of Lincoln
I was awarded this prize for my work with the Lincoln English society over the two years I ran it. I prided myself on holding research seminars on literary modernism and drop-in sessions for those in the years below who needed inspiration to get started on a specific research topic. Of course, a large part of the job revolved around more social endeavours with myself and my team starting up one of the largest bar crawls the faculty of arts has to do this day seen (and joined in with) but the less said about that the better I suppose!
