Almost a year after completing my first work experience at The Analyst, I was invited to return for another two weeks while the Research Editor was on holiday. Much like the last time that I was employed at the company, I supported the analysts and creative team to make sure that the reports were published on time.
Doing work experience at this company has given me the opportunity to improve my editorial and proofreading skills, as I was in charge of editing the reports before sending them to the compliance team for legal support. I would ensure that all the sources provided in the text worked and then publish these reports to the company's website, Salesforce, and other research websites.

Editor and Production LeadUnleash Today

In December 2019, I was contacted by authors Kate Surala and Sarah Wagner and asked to become a part of their Unleash Today team as an Editor. However, it was not until January 2020 that I started working alongside both to help produce their book and vision.
My role in the publication process involves editing the book, both in the content and the structure. I was also a fundamental part of encouraging the team to grow by stating that marketing was an important part of publicising a book. It was also necessary to get a proofreader to go through the text after it is completed and typeset.
While editing is my most significant role during the project, I am also in charge of typesetting the book on Adobe InDesign and ensuring that all the content (including expert opinions) is placed in a way that is readable. It also involves designing the chapter start pages, the contents and list of figures, and individual sections.
Other responsibilities also included researching self-publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing and looking into pricing. With my expertise in the publishing industry, I was also able to provide support for the book cover and synopsis through research.

While studying, I became Production Lead for UCL Interscript. Members of the team would send me articles that they had written and I would publish them on the Interscript website. The Editors would work on editing last years MA Publishing dissertations and then send the final document to me so that I could typeset it on Adobe InDesign, ready to be published online.
