About me
Jakub Konaszczuk is an independent writer/director from the West Midlands.
While studying a filmmaking course at college, Jakub has made numerous projects that showcased his creativity and artistic ability within film. In particular, his college short film project titled 'In My Skin' was well received at Film Birmingham's 'ShortFuse' event in July 2019. His mini-short film called ‘Async’ was made for the Depict short film competition and premiered at Culture Central’s ‘Democratising Creativity and Culture’ festival in September 2020. Additionally, Jakub has been selected as one of the working class filmmakers across the U.K to be part of BFI NETWORK’S Weekender in 2021.
As a filmmaker, Jakub is passionate about telling human dramas that are told through a poetic and contemplative style influenced by his own interest in art house and world cinema.
Projects
- async (An Experimental Short Film)A poetic short film inspired by the COVID-19 lock-down. Based on the filmmaker's own observations, the film symbolically explores the feelings of isolation and negativity experienced during lock-down. Yet, the film also shows how this period can be beneficial for us to understand and appreciate ourselves and our relation to the outside world, giving us a small opportunity to nurture and grow as people in the rapidly ever-changing world.
