A one year paid internship for Sony Music UK as a part of the marketing team at RCA Label Group UK. As one of 20 interns selected from a group of over 1,500 applicants, I work full time supporting my team members within the marketing department. The role operates in a high pressure working environment, where time management and organisational skills are vital to succeeding within a constant series of very tight deadlines. However, there is also a refreshing space for creativity, as brainstorms, planning meetings, and workshops allow a genuine contribution to the progress of an artist's campaign. Day to day responsibilities within a heavy and varied workload involve raising purchase orders, organising promotional materials, collating ticket buys, planning artist schedules, handling budgets, creating meeting agendas, and filing marketing and sales reports. Maintaining social relationships with both artists and clients is also very important, as is ensuring that every department within the label (TV, radio, press etc) have the exact information and materials they need for the campaign to flourish. Elsewhere, I actively contribute ideas and feedback at every stage of an artist's campaign, ensuring in the process that I'm at the forefront of what is trending in music, social media, and popular/underground culture to make a valid offering to the process, Amongst many others, I support UK artist projects such as: - Kodaline - Paloma Faith - Swim Deep - Everything Everything - Bring Me The Horizon - Development projects such as Nothing But Thieves, Laura Doggett, and Amber Run. In addition, my role also operates within US import projects, with artists such as Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, and Miley Cyrus just a few of the many that we distribute in the UK.
