James is a London-based director, theatre practitioner and film maker. Currently, he is working directing a film for Peer Power, a project following young people that explores coproduction in the care services. He is also designing The IT at Bristol Old Vic as part of National Connections 2020.
James has previously been a resident artist at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol collaborating with Joseff Harris and artists from Bristol based company FEN, to create a dual-screen film installation that charts modern relationships through movement and sound.
James has extensive experience as a practitioner working with young people from various backgrounds across London, Bristol and the South West with a number of organisations including the Lyric Hammersmith. Prior to this James spent 8 years working at Bristol Old Vic as Associate Director and practitioner for the Engagement Department, working with the Young Company, local schools, and communities.
As a theatre maker James has worked with Bristol Old Vic, Tobacco Factory Theatres, Young Vic, National Theatre, Headlong, Lyric Hammersmith, Actors Touring Company, The Wardrobe Ensemble, Wardrobe Theatre, FEN, Sharp Teeth, and Insane Root.
