About me
Some people call me James, others call me JPEG Graphic Design graduate of the Arts University Bournemouth, currently looking for opportunities in London. Good design is underpinned by a well researched and considered insight, resulting in something which is syntactically consistent and easily accessible. I'm also a strong believer that collaboration can really help to enrich the design process. Ethics also play an important role in my design approach, I think designers have a responsibility to use their ability to communicate to really push for positive change within our society.
Projects
  • Concrete Jungle
Concrete JungleThis collection of urban plant pots reveals hidden messages when wet by the rain. The Pots promote urban agriculture by encouraging people to take advantage of English weather. We want to catch our audience whilst they are experiencing the downpour, encouraging them to make a positive out of what some people might consider a negative. This is a collaboration with Etty Flynn Photography by Sam Day
  • Good Paper Carries...
Good Paper Carries...good paper can really help to propel and elevate an idea. In many ways it can carry it. We’ve designed a series of paper bags which showcase this message to promote Fedrigoni's new retail space: The Imaginative Papers Shop, which is opening within the London Graphic Centre. The bags have been designed to celebrate the diversity and promote the potential of Fedrogoni’s products each bag is created from a single sheet of paper. This is a collaboration with Daniela Osorio
  • The Fourth Tuesday
The Fourth Tuesday“To live in the hearts we leave behind is to live forever.” – Carl Sagan Taking text from Mitch Albom’s ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’. The Fourth Tuesday recounts a conversation Mitch had with his terminally ill, former tutor Morrie Schwartz. The book explores what it is like to look death in the face and advocates the importance of building strong enduring relationships. As Morrie said; “death ends a life, not a relationship.”

  • It's raining typography
It's raining typographyThis collection of concrete pots reveals hidden messages when wet by the rain. The pots were designed to promote urban agriculture and to inspire people to grow herbs and vegetables outdoors, taking advantage of the UK's rainy weather. The superhydrophobic spray is invisible when dry which means that the text can be seen only during miserable weather. This way, we catch our audience whilst they are experiencing the downpour, encouraging them to make a positive out of what some might see as a negative. This project was done in collaboration with my friend and former classmate, James Marshall. Photography by Sam Day.
