About me
Hi, I'm Jamie; a BSc Product Design graduate based in Liverpool, Chester and South Wirral. I am excited about developing & demonstrating my skill & ambition as I begin my career as a professional designer. I have always been an art & design hobbyist. Outside of full-time studies or work I like to try my hand at any & all art, craft & design disciplines as a means of self-development & expression. I have a keen interest in art, history, culture & photography; in which I find energy & inspiration. I have a year of experience working full-time in the role of CAD Designer for one of the UK's leading spa manufacturers; gaining a wealth of experience in the field of bespoke commercial design. I have been the lead designer for a number of leisure industry projects, working with clients based both in the UK & overseas. Please take a moment to look at some of my academic, commercial & independent work & feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments via LinkedIn, my portfolio or email.
Projects
  • ASSISTANT Supermarket Shopping Aid
ASSISTANT Supermarket Shopping AidFinal year University design project; the design of a tailored assistive product for elderly or less-abled grocery shoppers. The ASSISTANT solution, to be installed within supermarkets, is a modern, small-capacity handbasket lift which can be transported easily around the store. The project delivery included model-making in foam, 3D printed ABS, wood & the application of coded arduino motor controls.
  • Wheelchair Rain Cover
Wheelchair Rain CoverThis user-centred design project saw the design of an intuitive wheelchair rain cover in response to primary & secondary market research. The implicit needs of the target user demographic influenced the simple product's construction, use & collapsibility.
  • Drug-free Sleeping Aid
Drug-free Sleeping AidThis self-directed University design project called for the research & development of a drug-free sleeping aid; which was safe for pregnant users or those with additional underlying health concerns or routine medication. The solution monitors sleep patterns & provides harmless soothing light throughout the night.
  • Inclusive Watering Can Design
Inclusive Watering Can DesignThe solution for this market research & product design project was a small-capacity, inclusively-designed watering can; with a low-pressure trigger system & clarity to help the user monitor water level. The watering can is designed with the reguar elderly or disabled gardener at the forefront of user-centred design (UCD) considerations.
  • Upcycling
UpcyclingA small collection of projects which have seen a new use created for materials & objects destined for the bin! Simple techniques like laser cutting, rehousing & recycling have been employed to save discarded speakers, components & timber from waste.
