About me
Recent media graduate from Newcastle University. For the last two years I was music editor of The Courier and served on the editorial team in the year we came second in The Guardian Student Media awards. In my time at university I received several accolades for my contribution to student media including awards for writing, presenting and the prestigious Pride of Newcastle Award. I write and comment on everything from music to gender to dubiously priced sandwich shops.

    Music Editor
     -
As music editor it was my job to ensure that Newcastle University's music pages were produced to an industry level standard. This involved the actual lay-up of the print edition (Photoshop and InDesign) but also managing webcontent (WordPress) and our social media sites (Twitter, Instagram, Spotify). I also ensured that the content that was produced was of a high quality and of specific interest to our audience of students by proposing and proofreading articles submitted to us and liaising with PR companies to secure gig access and albums to review. As well behind the scenes work, I also made a concerted effort to ensure that I still practiced my hand at writing. In my time at The Courier I did everything from gig reviews to food critique and I even managed to interview Lauren Laverne! In my final year at University I was awarded the Pride of Newcastle Award for Outstanding Contribution to Student Media.
