Jan is a portrait and documentary photographer based in London. His personal work largely focuses on groups, communities and subcultures and he aims always to capture subjects honestly and truthfully. He believes that the connection and trust between a photographer and sitter is vital to a good portrait, almost second to the technical aspects of a shot, and he spends a deal of time getting to know subjects and the communities they are part of. Where possible Jan chooses to shoot on film which gives him and his subjects less distractions and a nostalgic look to an image.
His personal work has been published in a number of magazines and online platforms including Vogue Italia, BBC online, Metropolitan, Vice and i-D and his client list for commissioned work includes Virgin EMI Records, Abbey Road Studios, Newsweek and the Sunday Telegraph.
In June a selection of portraits from his series "Queens at Home" were exhibited by Vogue Italia in Milan during PhotoWeek

A home is another extension of a person’s identity and “Queens at Home” juxtaposes the carefully crafted drag alter ego with the day-to-day identity of their creator, marrying the two personas and giving the full picture of each sitters identity. regular work updates on instagram @janklos_photo
- The Club - the look at age-old English sporting clubsA country that proudly embraces and welcomes numerous cultures, Britain is a richly vibrant and forward- thinking nation. But there are age-old societies with histories reaching back hundreds of years that have slowly been forgotten in favor of new tastes, new experiences, new ways of being. Spending time with groups of people, I uncover communities struggling to maintain their place and purpose in Britain’s ever-changing canvas.
