About me
I am thrilled to be one of the 50 WomenBeyondTheBox, celebrating Neurodiverse brains and all they can contribute to our society.
I write novels for young people about difficult issues, and am published by Hodder Children's Books.
My titles include A Room Full Of Chocolate, How To Fly With Broken Wings. Swimming To The Moon and Will You Catch Me? So far I have won ten literary awards, voted for by young people and also an award for my blog tour from Nacoa, which took place during COA Week 2019.
I am from a theatre and playwriting background and my play, Leonardo Stole My Crayon, about Young Offenders and dyslexia, was the winner of the Kings x Award for New Writing. It was written after I ran some workshops in HMS Polmont with Young Offenders.
I'm a trained actor and comic improviser and I regularly do interactive school events about my books. I felicitate drama and improvisation workshops. I see dyslexia as a gift and like to mentor young people, to help them meet the challenges and understand their own particular gift.
I'm passionate about rescue animals and I'm involved in the charity All Dogs Matter. I am also an advocate for Nacoa - the National Association For Children Of Alcoholics.
