About me
I am a highly literate, driven and adaptable individual with a breadth of experience, gathered over several decades in journalism and teaching. I am now looking to forge a new career in TV documentaries.
As a journalist on the Sunday Times magazine, the Times and a range of other national newspapers and magazines, from The Listener to Tatler and Elle to The Field, I learnt to pursue a story and communicate with a diverse audience. Having been a writer, sub-editor and commissioning editor, I have an eye for detail and am relentless in pursuit of perfection and accuracy. Generating ideas, problem-solving, managing a heavy workload and meeting deadlines have all been part of my working life, along with collaborative teamwork and forming positive relationships.
These skills have been further developed in my more recent roles in education as a teacher of English and Drama and as assistant head of sixth form in a large co-ed comprehensive school. Working with young people and their families, supporting their academic development and mental well-being has been intensely satisfying - whether guiding their university applications, advising on employment and apprenticeships or directing them in school productions.
I have a well developed general knowledge and take an active interest in politics and current affairs, in addition to a wide range of interests - including theatre and the arts, the environment and wildlife, health and social issues.
