I worked at UNISON NI for a year covering a period of maternity leave. While there I updated, managed and created written and visual content for UNISON NI's website and social media channels. I designed posters for events and rallies, shot and edited video, produced reports and developed communications plans. I represented UNISON at events and liaised with press when responding to news stories. While at UNISON I also completed a comprehensive report about the privatisation of the NHS and helped conduct a comprehensive, internal survey among UNISON members in Northern Ireland.

I completed my Master of Arts in Journalism (Print and Online) at the London College of Communication in 2013. I studied modules in media law, writing and editing for print and online, photo and video editing, website design and media theory. During that year our class took over editorial control of the University of the Arts’ newspaper. I served as the Features Editor and came up with ideas for articles for Arts London News, wrote and edited articles for print and online and worked with the editorial team to establish contributors, editors and content. I carried out interviews with senior members of UAL’s staff for a news story about cuts to disability services within the university and shot and edited my own film about the London Underground.
