New York artist Jared Ailstock, born in 1970, specializes in portraiture and collage. He holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Fine Arts from the City University of New York.
He began practicing painting while he was recovering from a leg injury in his early 20s. He became known as a portrait painter in the late 1990s, exhibiting frequently at the New York Art Gallery.
In the course of his over 20-years-long career, Jared Ailstock has painted and worked with iconic and celebrity figures including actors and politicians.
Jared Ailstock currently lives with his family in New York, where he has his studio.
Jared Ailstock’s unique portraits feature elements of both realism and abstraction. In his career as a painter, Jared Ailstock has confronted a multitude of different narratives and themes, ranging from how we consume and discuss imagery, the modern-day obsession of social media, cosmetic surgery, and societal portraiture.
